HOLD MY HAND (A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR MILLER)

Thomas A. Dorsey, a black evangelist, came down from his home in Chicago to St. Louis, where I live, for meetings. Later, on his way to Springfield, Illinois, he received a phone call. His pregnant wife had died in childbirth. By the time he got back to Chicago, his little baby had died as well. So Thomas Dorsey buried his wife and baby, just as my father buried his young wife and his newborn baby when I was not yet eight years of age.

For weeks Thomas Dorsey struggled under the impact of his severe trial. And then one night God gave him a song--a song in the night. AND HE WROTE,

Precious Lord, take my hand, Lead me on, help me stand; I am tired, I am weak, I am worn.Through the storm, through the night, Lead me on to the light, Take my hand, precious Lord, lead me       Home.

When my way grows drear, Precious Lord, linger near; When my life is almost gone, Hear my cry, hear my call, Hold my hand lest I fall; Take my hand, precious Lord, lead me                          Home.
